When renting beats a single code
A single activation ends the moment the code lands and the line goes back to the pool. A term keeps the same line answering for as long as you hold it, which is what you need as soon as a second message is ever going to arrive — a sign-in from an unfamiliar device, a reset, a confirmation that turns up days after the order. If one code is genuinely all you will ever see, a term is time bought and left unused. If you cannot say, it is the term you want.
Why the country weighs more on a term than on a single code
On a single activation, a country the platform refuses costs you the wait and nothing else: the charge comes back. On a term you have already bought the days, so a refusal turns into days paid for and unusable. This is the page to slow down on. Open the country you have in mind and satisfy yourself that the carriers leasing there are ones the platform accepts — before the term starts, not after.
The price on each tile, and what it covers
It is the cheapest carrier in that country over the shortest term we sell, which is seven days. Longer terms cost more altogether and less per day, and the exact split differs carrier by carrier — the country page sets it out for each. Thirty days is where we stop, and that is a decision rather than a limit of the catalogue: past a month a line stops behaving like something borrowed.
Questions this page raises
How many countries lease a line?
Leasing runs in 116 countries — fewer than the 145 that answer for single activations, because holding a line out of the pool for a whole term is something only part of the networks will agree to.
Is the line mine alone while the term runs?
Yes. For the whole term it is bound to your account, and everything written to it reaches you — any sender, any service, no cap on how many messages.
What happens once the term is over?
It returns to the network and stops answering for you. Anything that leaned on it — an account whose recovery route runs through that line — loses that route with it, so the move to make is before the last day rather than after it.
